Havis’s Battery, founded in 1862, was part of
the 14th Battalion Georgia Artillery. After training
in Griffin, Georgia, the battalion moved to Kentucky
to join Palmer’s Battalion, Army of Tennessee.
Havis’s saw action in most of the battles fought
between Kentucky and Macon. They supported General
Longstreet at Chickamauga, performed at Missionary
Ridge, Pine Mountain and Kennesaw, and fired on Union
troops in the Battle of Atlanta.
